Purple

Last week, we posted the meaning behind the colour purple and feelings it may invoke. This week is my interpretation of the colour on a layout.

2 for 1 Today

Phew ... due to our slight mishap last week, this week we are posting Week 16 and 17 Deck of Me's. Thanks for understanding!

Deck of Me - Week 16

Fight or flight? What do you do when the going gets tough? Doodle your answer, your feelings or your gut reaction. Here, I simply used patterned paper and a pen to ink out my opinion on the subject.

Deck of Me - Week 17

I'm sure everyone has one or two things they'd like to do better. What do you aspire towards? I have a few virtues I'd like to see in place in my life... Here I covered my card with pattered paper (a Love, Elsie doubled-sided paper with ready-made journalling lines on the back) and adhered a paper flower and Doodlebug 'sugared' chipboard star with a brad.

Relationships

A couple weeks ago, the 'new challenge' was to create a layout based on a relationship that is special to you.
Here is mine...

Pretty Flowers and Paint'able' paper

We received more product in store and clearly, these flowers are inspiring. I love the new Prima flowers as they have type, flourishes, dots and even simply plain designs all together.
As well, the paintables line has come out with new designs (and we got 'em). The 12*12 papers have 4, 6*6 designs as well, so these of course are excellent for mini albums and highlighting just one photo on a page!

I would love to see what yours looks like!

Cannot Wait until Friday

We received new product in the store again today. Just to mention a few:
Kimberly Poloson - this is an excellent line for refined and heritage layouts. The colours, as well to touch and feel are absolutely amazing.
Glitz Designs - oohhh, o and it is glitzy, shiny and fun.

Check it out...

Purple

Getting updated and we are there...

Today is purple, because i have the perfect layout in mind!

Purple: Often associated with royalty, purple also encompasses spirituality, nobility, transformation, wisdom and enlightenment. What will your layout look like?

Our weekly journey has to be omitted today.
We will post the week's deck as soon as we can.
Sorry about this.

LAck of Posting

I apologize for the lack of posting lately, let us chalk it up to some computer 'fritz's.'

Nonetheless,
This is my layout from a little bit ago when I wrote a letter to people who affected me. Let me tell you, it was difficult to put to words, but i think i got it. The second page is complete and has no images on it, the first page was posted a few weeks ago - however it is complete now. I think the focal point is the journaling on the second page. A challenge, in a sense - can you create a layout where the photo is not the intended focal point?

Post away!

Another Sketch

So tonight we are creating another sketch...I am still learning (and the curve is high) with digital.
Instead of black and white, I figured i would try a colour scheme. I was challenged with changing the pattern paper pieces and so had to leave them in grey. However, the general sketch is here to inspire!!
Have fun and my layout will be created next week...

I [heart] Art!

Last week, I quoted Albert Einstein about using imagination.
This is the layout with the very same quote on it.
The Love Elsie line is seriously the greatest line to inspire children's artwork that they bring home with
a proud smile wanting you to display their masterpieces!!!

Week 15

They say that laughter is the best medicine... What makes you laugh, grin, howl, snort...? This week's prompt is laughter and what it means to you. I took a piece of patterned pet-themed paper and adhered it to the card, I inked the edges with a rust-coloured Colorbox cat-eye ink pad, then added some rub ons up the left side. I added a few sparkly gems by My Mind's Eye to the crown and a KI Memories frame with brads. Don't mind your handwriting or whether it's crooked or straight...just write!

NEw & Fresh

We received more product in...and i have to say, it is fresh with colours of spring and hopeful with the whisper of babies...

Daisy D - baby girl and boy, with hints of purples, blues and greens, not to mention butterfles, polka dots and monkies - monkies galore, sock monkies.
Making Memories - Jack and Ella, with flocked and die cut paper that is so intriguing and innovative; felt buttons filled with stitching of pinks, browns, greens and blues; and kits - 8*8 album kits for quick, fast and easy completion.

So much more you just have to come see for yourself!

Last week's sketch and this week's layout.

“I am enough of an artist to draw freely upon my imagination. Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.”
~Albert Einstein

I am abandoning colour this week and working with a quote for next week's layout. How would you use this one?

week 14

Time to look back, not just about who we are but where we came from. This week's prompt is 'remember when...' Run with a memory for Week 14. For my card, I took an old photograph of my great grandmother and copied it - so that the original is preserved and I can 'play' with the copy. I adhered it to the card and covered the entire photo with paint. Before the paint dried, I used a piece of tissue to uncover the centre of the photo and leaving a border behind. Tip: try different ways to remove the paint ie. in strokes or circular motion. Then I wrote directly onto the photo and added a little Love, Elsie sticker to flourish.

Sunday Evening...

and i am thinking about relationships. I had this great idea for my sister and i and i love my sister, of course i do. So i want to scrapbook a layout about her and i and the relationship we share. Why don't you do the same, scrapbook a layout of a relationship that is important to you.
I guess this is what we always scrapbook, but i the page, tell them why they mean so much to you and why...
I will post mine too.

New Product

We received another shipment at the store and wow.
To name a few,
The We Are Memory Keepers Cutting Kit is excellent; allowing for straight edge cut, magnets to hold your paper in place, a rotary scorer and cutter at any length and a circle cutter.
More papers including Bo Bunny Press and their organic line, as well as We Are Memory Keepers with bright bright summery fun papers.
Finally, Tattered Angels. They have a glimmer mist where you 'spritz' shimmer onto your papers using simply the spray or using a template to create a patter, and even spraying chipboard. You see the closer to the surface you spritz the more 'shimmier' it is. A beautiful way to enhance your cards and pages. The also have embossed chipboard you can spritz and templates.
You have to come check it out!

Sketch for WEDNESDAY

I could not complete my sketch last night so have to post today. I apologize for that, you see i am still working on the digital thing and so am trying to create sketches in photoshop. THis is the first real attempt and i think i am getting better....
Good luck with the sketch, mine will be created next week for posting!

Wood and Leather

You know...i actually have leather paper at the store. It is beautiful paper, however, i couldn't use it for the layout in question, as my photos that i want to use it with have yet to be printed. I promised to finish off some other layouts prior to printing these ones.'
Therefore, i wanted to show you this beautifully simple, yet very 'leathery' layout completed by the 7Gypsies team, based on the colour quiz from last week's post.
They had it on display and allowed us to take the photos. A creative eclectic bunch they are...
